We are undertaking a major programme of work to transform the existing City Museum and Art Gallery into a new, unique visitor attraction. The Plymouth History Centre (working title) is expected to open as the flagship building for our Mayflower 400 commemorations in 2020.
One of the major pieces of work we undertook in 2016 was to decant the collections from the museum into secure offsite storage.
Now this job is complete our staff are busy preparing for the big move back onto site once construction work is finished. This will be followed by the fit out of the History Centre’s galleries before our launch in Spring 2020.
Read our #BehindTheScenes posts as we share a regular glimpses into the work and people that are involved.
